100 Nasarawa Indigenes to Acquire Lithium Refining Skills at Chinese Plant in Ogun State

The Nasarawa State Government has secured a commitment from Ganfeng Lithium Industry Refining Plant, Shagamu, Ogun State, to train 100 indigenes of Nasarawa State in lithium refining processes, equipping them with technical expertise and industry-relevant skills.
Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, who visited the refining plant on Sunday, emphasized that the initiative aligns with Nasarawa’s mining policy, which mandates that mining companies establish processing plants within the state to enhance local value addition.
Strategic Benefits of the Initiative
- Skill Development: 100 Nasarawa indigenes will undergo intensive training in lithium refining, preparing them for employment in the sector.
- Industrial Growth: The training is expected to enhance local workforce capacity, ensuring that Nasarawa State benefits fully from its mineral resources.
- Tracking Value Addition: Governor Sule reiterated that the state government is closely monitoring lithium mined from Nasarawa to ensure it is refined locally, rather than exported in its raw form.
During the visit, officials from Ganfeng Lithium Industry assured the governor that work on the Endo Lithium Refining Plant in Nasarawa State is progressing steadily, with completion scheduled for June 2025. Notably, the Endo plant is designed to have three times the capacity of the Shagamu facility, positioning Nasarawa as a key player in lithium processing in Nigeria.
