Imo State Government Clarifies Misconceptions About IDP Camp

The Imo State government has officially denied rumors that an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp has been established in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area. Instead, officials clarified that the facility under construction in Nsu is a training center for skills acquisition programs aimed at benefiting the local population in the South East.
The Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, addressed the issue in Owerri, condemning the spread of false information by individuals intending to create discord among different ethnic groups. He specifically criticized a local propagandist, Mr. Chinonso Uba, for allegedly distorting the facts to incite unrest between the Igbos and other Nigerians.
Emelumba emphasized that the training center was intended solely for local residents and that there were no plans to accommodate refugees from other regions. He urged the people of Ehime Mbano and Imo State to disregard inflammatory rhetoric and focus on the positive developments aimed at enhancing community skills and opportunities. The government’s commitment to fostering unity and development remains steadfast, as it calls on security agencies to address the misinformation and maintain peace in the state.
