Imo State Achieves Milestone in Nigerian Energy Sector as Waltersmith Refinery Commences Operations
Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited’s modular refinery, situated in Imo State, has garnered accolades from the federal government for its pivotal role in addressing Nigeria’s energy needs. The refinery’s successful operations signify a significant step towards resolving the nation’s energy challenges.
This refinery, located in Ibigwe, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, has commenced operations by producing an impressive 600 million litres of various refined products. The facility dispatches 20 trucks daily, contributing significantly to the country’s energy supply.
Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), commended the WalterSmith Modular Refinery during a visit, expressing satisfaction with the facility’s operations. Speaking to reporters after touring the refinery alongside Simbi Wabote, the executive secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Lokpobiri praised the refinery’s substantial contributions to meeting Nigeria’s energy demands.
