Court of Appeal Affirms Prince Dapo Abiodun as Rightful Winner of 2023 Ogun Governorship Election
The Court of Appeal, sitting in Lagos, rendered a split decision on Friday, affirming Dapo Abiodun as the rightful governor of Ogun State following the March 18 elections, with a 2 to 1 judgment.
Justice Joseph Ikyegh, in the majority decision of the State and National Assembly Appeal Court, dismissed the appeal brought by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ladi Adebutu, challenging the outcome of the state’s gubernatorial election.
However, Justice Jane Inyang, in the minority judgment, upheld the appeal and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election within 90 days in Ogun State.
