Governor Otu Calls for Unity at Armed Forces Remembrance Day Service

Governor Prince Bassey Otu has urged Nigerians to uphold the values of sacrifice, service, and unity as Cross River State commemorates the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
Speaking at the inter-denominational service held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Navy Barracks, Calabar, the governor, represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, called for unwavering support for veterans and their families. “Their sacrifices for our sovereignty and peace should inspire us to be models of harmony and progress,” he said.
Governor Otu honored the contributions of past and present heroes, including those who fought in the Nigerian Civil War, World Wars, and the ongoing battle against insurgency. He also emphasized the need for sustained care and respect for their families.
Officiating priest, Rev. Fr. Raphael Adelana, encouraged efforts to avoid unnecessary wars, highlighting the devastating impact of conflict on lives and society.
The event featured intercessory prayers, music by the Nigerian Navy Catholic Women, and a thanksgiving led by the deputy governor alongside service commanders and members of the Armed Forces.
