AGILE Project and Sokoto Ministry of Education Strengthen Data Collection for Quality Education

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project, in collaboration with the Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has taken proactive steps to enhance education planning and policy-making with the launch of the 2023/2024 Annual School Census (ASC) planning meeting.
The high-level meeting focused on training Master Trainers to ensure the accurate and effective collection of education data across the state.
Commitment to Data-Driven Educational Reforms
In his remarks, AGILE Project Coordinator, Dr. Mansur Isa Buhari, represented by Monitoring and Evaluation Lead, Muhammad Mainasara, commended the Sokoto State Government for prioritizing education reformsthrough robust data collection and monitoring systems.
Similarly, Hon. Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Ahmed Ladan Ala, emphasized that accurate data collection is essential for shaping impactful education policies.
“Monitoring and evaluation play a crucial role in improving education outcomes. Reliable statistics will help us make informed decisions that enhance access to quality education for every child in Sokoto State,” Prof. Ala stated.

- Outgoing Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Abdullahi Marafa
- Incoming Director, Chika Murtala
- Head of Education Management Information System (EMIS), Hafiz Ibrahim Dogon Daji
The session also featured contributions from Executive Secretary of the Teachers’ Service Board, Hajia Aishat Nasiru Zarummai, and Chairman of the Sokoto State Private School Proprietors Association, Alhaji Ahmed S/Fada Katukan Dange, among other education stakeholders.
The planning meeting reaffirmed the Sokoto State Government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector through data-driven decision-making and effective school monitoring systems.
By prioritizing comprehensive and reliable education statistics, Sokoto State is paving the way for enhanced learning opportunities, improved school management, and better student performance outcomes.
