North Central Christian Leaders Applaud Governor Alia’s Transformational Leadership, Present Awards of Excellence

In a resounding endorsement of his visionary leadership, Christian leaders from the North-Central region, under the auspices of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), have reaffirmed their confidence in the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. The leaders, who described Governor Alia as a model of excellence in governance, made this declaration in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, during an interactive session with the Governor.
During the event, CAN North-Central Chairman, Rev. Dr. Samson Jonah, speaking on behalf of the delegation, commended Governor Alia’s outstanding governance, emphasizing that his leadership has brought immense pride to the Christian community. He hailed the Governor’s developmental strides across critical sectors, affirming that his administration exemplifies the biblical principle that says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.”
In their goodwill messages, the Christian leaders lauded Governor Alia’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, economic revitalization, and youth empowerment. In recognition of his sterling leadership, Governor Alia was honored with two prestigious awards: the Pillar of Excellence and Good Governance in Nigeria award from CAN North-Central, and the Garkuwan Matasan award from the Arewa Youth group. These awards further reaffirm his status as a unifying force and a beacon of transformational leadership.
Speaking at the meeting, which was held at the New Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, Governor Alia charged the Christian community to remain united and committed to the values of righteousness and truth. He emphasized that their unity should serve as a pillar of strength, transcending denominational differences to foster collective progress. “Call it dogma, call it teaching—whatever name you choose, it should bring us together, not divide us,” he remarked.
Governor Alia also reaffirmed his commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, urging the Christian body to continue supporting the administration’s efforts to build a greater Nigeria. He noted that Benue’s recent strides in development have been significantly boosted by the instrumental support of President Tinubu, which has enabled his government to implement impactful policies and programs.
Reflecting on his decision to support President Tinubu, Governor Alia emphasized that his choice was driven by competence and capacity rather than religious considerations. He urged the people of North-Central to remain steadfast in the pursuit of progress, stressing that the Christian community should continue to be a symbol of hope, development, unity, and national cohesion.
