Governor Sanwo-Olu Challenges Agency Heads to Strengthen Good Governance for Sustainable Development

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on Heads of Government Agencies and Parastatals in Lagos State to reaffirm their dedication to good governance, efficiency, and sustainable development.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the maiden Heads of Agency/Parastatal Retreat, held at Jubilee Chalet, Epe, the Governor, represented by Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahabemphasized the critical role of public administrators in transforming Lagos into a global economic powerhouse.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude for your dedication to Lagosians. This retreat provides us with the opportunity to assess our progress and re-evaluate priorities to ensure we are delivering impactful results,” he stated.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed that good governance is a continuous process, stressing that the administration’s ultimate goal is to build an inclusive, prosperous, and technology-driven 21st-century economy.

Highlighting the Lagos Smart City initiative, the Governor disclosed that his administration is actively digitizing government services, implementing e-governance solutions, and modernizing operations across all agencies. He pointed to the LAG-ID Project, a unified identity system, as an example of how technology is being leveraged to enhance service delivery.

“As Heads of Agencies, you are custodians of public trust. Your policies and decisions have a direct impact on Lagosians’ lives. We must remain proactive, innovative, and committed to excellence,” he urged.

He commended the retreat organizers for fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing, emphasizing that the insights gained should be translated into concrete policies for improved governance.

The Governor assured participants that Lagos’ leadership remains dedicated to delivering on its promises, urging them to return to their respective agencies with renewed focus, courage, and a solution-driven mindset.

The retreat was attended by Heads of all Lagos State Government Agencies and Parastatals, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to effective governance and service delivery.
