In a heartfelt gesture of support and appreciation for the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s armed forces, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has donated N30 million to the family of the late Army Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Ebisingha Alari. Lt. Col. Alari lost his life in the line of duty during a military operation against Boko Haram insurgents in the Timbuktu Triangle.

Governor Zulum personally presented the donation to the widow of the late officer in Maiduguri on Saturday, reaffirming the state government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of fallen heroes’ families.

“Yesterday, we sent a high-level state government delegation to the funeral. However, I felt the need to personally extend my condolences on behalf of the government and people of the state,” Governor Zulum stated.

He further emphasized the importance of recognizing the sacrifices of military personnel who have laid down their lives for the peace and stability of Borno and the Northeast. “Apart from this support, we will continue to stand by the families of our fallen heroes who have devoted their lives to defending our nation,” he assured.

The governor announced that the financial assistance would be used to purchase a house for Lt. Col. Alari’s family, as he was informed that the officer did not own a personal home.

The presentation took place in the presence of senior military officers, including the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Waidi Shuaibu; the Sector 2 Commander, Major General Chieiebere Ejike; and several top government officials, including Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, House of Representatives members Engr Bukar Talba and Ahmed Jaha, and the Special Adviser on Security to the Governor, Brigadier General Abdullahi Sabi Ishaq (Rtd.).

This gesture underscores Governor Zulum’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s military personnel and their families while reinforcing the state government’s commitment to security and stability.
