Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has been honoured with the prestigious “Pioneering Infrastructure-Friendly Policies” award for his exceptional leadership in advancing digital infrastructure. The award was presented at the launch of the National Broadband Alliance for Nigeria (NBAN) in Lagos.

Governor Radda’s commitment to broadband expansion and digital transformation was highlighted by the Director General of the Katsina Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (KATDICT), Naufal Ahmad, who received the award on behalf of the Governor. Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Naufal reiterated that the administration would continue its partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to accelerate broadband penetration in the state.

Under Governor Radda’s leadership, the state waived Right of Way (RoW) charges, attracting private sector investment in fiber-optic network deployment. This policy has transformed Katsina into a hub for technology and telecommunications companies. Naufal also noted that the Governor’s Smart Katsina Initiative has fostered collaboration with private sector stakeholders to connect all government offices under a unified digital network to improve communication, data sharing, and service delivery.

Governor Radda, while acknowledging the award at the Government House in Katsina, emphasized that his administration will continue prioritizing policies that promote a technology-driven, knowledge-based economy. He reassured citizens that his government would ensure affordable and reliable internet access for businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, and all residents.
