Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced that Ogun State will leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and drone technology to enhance security operations, making it one of the safest states in Nigeria.

Speaking at the 2025 Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) in Abeokuta, the Governor detailed plans to integrate:

• AI-driven cybersecurity tools to combat cybercrime.

• Advanced surveillance drones with an 8,000-meter coverage range to identify criminals in hidden locations.

• Modern digital tracking systems to aid intelligence gathering and crime prevention.

“Security is the foundation of any thriving society, and Ogun State, as Nigeria’s industrial hub, requires a robust and technology-driven security system to protect lives and businesses,” Governor Abiodun emphasized.

He also announced that the state has restructured its Security Trust Fund, ensuring that law enforcement agencies receive modern equipment and continuous training to tackle emerging security threats.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, applauded the Governor’s initiative, stating that the fifth edition of CARSPO was designed to review national security strategies and propose solutions aligned with global best practices.

The event was attended by top security officials from Nigeria, Kenya, and Rwanda, reinforcing the need for regional and international collaboration in fighting crime.
