The Edo State Muslim Welfare Board has extended the deadline for Hajj payment and registration for the 2025 pilgrimage to accommodate more intending pilgrims.

The announcement was made by Board Chairman, Mallam Musah Muhammad Uduimoh, during a meeting with the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Edo State Chapter, in Benin City.

Initially set for February 14, 2025, the deadline has now been extended to mid-Ramadan (mid-March 2025) following a directive from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

“We welcome this extension as it allows more people to complete their registration. Edo State has been allocated 412 Hajj slots by NAHCON, and we are ensuring that every eligible pilgrim gets the opportunity to perform the sacred pilgrimage,” Uduimoh stated.

During the meeting, MMPN Acting Chairman Abdul-Kadir Abdullah reaffirmed the association’s commitment to raising awareness about the Hajj process and supporting the board in ensuring smooth preparations.

Discussions also focused on enhancing the Hajj experience for Edo pilgrims, with Uduimoh assuring that better accommodation closer to the Haram in Makkah and improved catering services, including Nigerian local dishes, will be provided.

He also highlighted the strong collaboration between the Muslim and Christian Welfare Boards in Edo State, reinforcing the government’s commitment to religious harmony and inclusive development programs.
