Kwara State Restructures Ministries to Boost Livestock Development, Food Security, and Transport Efficiency

The Kwara State Executive Council has approved the restructuring and creation of two new ministries, a move aimed at enhancing governance efficiency, improving service delivery, and aligning government efforts with the state’s developmental priorities.
The decision, made during a cabinet meeting presided over by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, reflects the administration’s commitment to food security, infrastructure development, and effective public service delivery.
As part of the restructuring:
• The Ministry of Livestock Development has been carved out of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to focus on boosting food security and strengthening livestock farming across Kwara’s 16 local government areas. The new ministry will play a pivotal role in supporting farmers, herders, processors, and distributors in the livestock value chain.
• The Ministry of Transportation has been separated from the Ministry of Works and Transport to establish a more efficient transportation management system, ensuring seamless mobility for residents and the optimization of Kwara’s expanding road network.
• The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency (KWARTMA) will now be under the Ministry of Transportation instead of the Ministry of Works, ensuring a more streamlined approach to traffic management and transport regulation.
With these adjustments, Kwara State now has 22 ministries, up from 20, reflecting Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to strengthening governance and optimizing public service delivery.
