Kwara State Launches Digital and Coding Training for Public School Pupils

The Kwara State Government has launched a Coding and Digital Literacy training program for 50 public primary and junior secondary schools, reinforcing its commitment to technological advancement and education reform.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital and Innovation, Hon. Ishola Kayode, was flagged off by Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor, Alhaji Sa’adu Salau, who represented Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the event.
“We are in the era of the digital revolution, and Kwara State must not be left behind. This initiative will empower our students with essential digital skills to compete on a global stage,” Salau stated during the launch at Bishop Smith Junior Secondary School, Ilorin.
The pilot phase targets over 150 students per school, impacting a total of 50 schools across the state. Schools involved in the launch include Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin Grammar School, and Sheikh Alimi L.G.E.A Primary School.
According to Hon. Ishola, the program is designed to equip students with problem-solving skills using technology and expand digital literacy beyond the private school sector.
The initiative has been widely praised, with educators and students expressing enthusiasm for the state’s investment in digital education. Bishop Smith College Principal, Mrs. Akanbi Janet Ayoola, described the project as one of the most forward-thinking initiatives of Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration.
Following an initial data-driven assessment, the program is expected to expand, ensuring that more schools and students benefit from digital education in the state.
