Lagos State Procurement Officers Tasked with Enhancing Budget Implementation

The Lagos State Public Procurement Agency has commenced its 2025 Procurement Planning Clinic to review and align the procurement plans of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) with the state’s approved budget and development objectives.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the two-day event at the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Engr. Abdul Hafis Toriola, urged procurement officers to uphold transparency, accountability, and efficiency in managing public resources.
He emphasized the need for procurement officers to demonstrate in-depth expertise in guiding their accounting officers in budget implementation while commending the Procurement Agency for maintaining its leadership in e-Government Procurement (e-GP) systems nationwide.
The Director-General of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, highlighted that the Procurement Planning Clinic allows MDAs to present their procurement plans for screening to ensure compliance with budgetary provisions and procurement best practices.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration reaffirmed its commitment to training and retraining public officers, ensuring an efficient public service capable of delivering sustainable infrastructure and social services to the people of Lagos State.
