Governor Ahmed Aliyu Renovates and Inaugurates 36 Jumu’at Mosques in Sokoto

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Islam by overseeing the renovation and inauguration of 36 Jumu’at mosques across the state.

During the inauguration of Wamakko Jumu’at Mosque, Governor Aliyu, represented by Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, disclosed that six mosques have already been completed and inaugurated, including:

• Sheikh Musa Ayuba Lukuwa Jumu’at Mosque, Mabera Area

• Yabo Jumu’at Mosque

• Gwadabawa Jumu’at Mosque

• Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gummi Jumu’at Mosque, Unguwar Rogo

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding Islamic facilities, ensuring that mosques are well-maintained and accessible for congregational prayers.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, represented by Professor Sambo Wali Junaid (Wazirin Sokoto), commended the governor’s dedication to religious infrastructure development and urged Muslims to fully utilize these places of worship for daily prayers and spiritual growth.

The State Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Associate Professor Jabir Sani Maihulla, emphasized that the renovation projects align with the governor’s campaign promises, urging mosque committees to maintain cleanliness and uphold high standards.

The event was attended by key government officials, traditional rulers, and religious scholars, all of whom praised Governor Aliyu’s proactive approach to religious development in Sokoto State.
