In a bid to bridge the manpower gap in the healthcare sector, the Nasarawa State Government has awarded scholarships to 50 students to study nursing and midwifery at the Flagship College of Nursing Sciences in Bichi, Kano State.

The Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board, Hajiya Sa’adatu Yahaya, disclosed this initiative in Lafia on Tuesday, describing it as part of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s vision to revolutionize healthcare delivery in the state.

“The scholarship program is designed to address the critical shortage of nursing personnel in Nasarawa and Nigeria at large. The beneficiaries were selected strictly on merit and have met all requirements for the program,” she stated.

She emphasized that the students would receive comprehensive training and were expected to return to Nasarawa State upon graduation to contribute to the healthcare system.

Charging the beneficiaries to excel in their studies, she assured them of the government’s continuous support to ensure their success.

This initiative aligns with the state’s broader strategy to enhance healthcare infrastructure, improve service delivery, and provide adequate medical personnel for the growing population.
