Nasarawa United FC delivered a commanding performance to defeat Flight FC of Gboko 2-0 in their 2025 President Federation Cup Round of 64 match, held on Wednesday at the Jos International Stadium.

The Solid Miners made their intentions clear from the start, with centre-forward Ugochukwu Leonard opening the scoring in the 6th minute after an excellent assist from John Joshua. Right-back Kabir Balogun doubled the lead just 11 minutes later with a perfectly executed set-piece, leaving the opposition goalkeeper helpless.

Despite multiple second-half attempts, the scoreline remained unchanged, securing Nasarawa United’s place in the Round of 32 of Nigeria’s oldest inter-club knockout competition.

Among the dignitaries present were Nasarawa United FC Chairman Solomon Babanjah, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, former Deputy Governor Professor Onje Gye-wado, and Hon. Larry Ven-Bawa, who cheered the team to victory.

The club now awaits their next opponent, which will be determined after Ijele FC of Enugu faces Lautau FC of Jigawa. Having twice finished as runners-up in the National Challenge Cup, Nasarawa United is determined to go all the way this year.

Next, the Solid Miners return to Lafia for a crucial league match against defending champions Rangers International FC, set for Friday, March 21, at the Lafia City Stadium.
