Governor Aiyedatiwa Launches Transformative Akure-Idanre Road Project, Promises Timely Completion

Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has officially launched the dualization of the Akure-Idanre Road, fulfilling a key promise made during his election campaign. The project’s flag-off ceremony took place at the Arakale-Oke-Aro Junction in Akure, marking the beginning of Phase 1, which spans a 10-kilometer stretch from Cashhold Junction to KM10 on the Akure-Idanre corridor.
In his speech, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the project is crucial for advancing the state’s agribusiness and tourism sectors. He noted that the dualization will eliminate the long-standing challenges of congestion and safety hazards on the road, thereby facilitating smoother transportation for both agricultural products and tourists visiting the Idanre Hills.
“This project is a testament to our commitment to building a prosperous Ondo State, where opportunities are accessible to all citizens, and progress is visible in every community,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated. He highlighted the importance of this initiative in his administration’s 7-Point Development Agenda, “OUR EASE,” ensuring that the dualized road would become a vital economic artery that supports trade, connectivity, and job creation.
The dualized road will feature modern traffic systems, solar-powered streetlights, and wide carriageways, designed to accommodate heavy vehicular traffic. In addition to its focus on transportation, the project will include pedestrian walkways, utility bays, and enhanced safety features such as traffic lights at critical intersections.
Governor Aiyedatiwa assured residents that the project would be completed on time and to the highest standards, further strengthening Ondo State’s infrastructure. He also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for state-level development projects, which has made such transformative endeavors possible.
Local leaders, including the Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Gbenga Fasua, and the Chairman of Idanre Local Government, Smart Omotadowa, expressed their gratitude to the Governor for prioritizing infrastructural development. They praised the project for its potential to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic activities in the region.
With this road dualization, Governor Aiyedatiwa is solidifying his legacy as a leader focused on sustainable development and infrastructural excellence in Ondo State.
