Kogi Governor Honored with Prestigious Award for Workers’ Welfare Leadership

On the occasion of the 2025 Workers’ Day, Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo was presented with a distinguished award recognizing him as a workers’ friendly leader. The award, which highlights his outstanding contributions to workers’ welfare, was presented at the President Muhammed Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja.

Comrade Gabriel Amari, Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in Kogi State, presented the award on behalf of the NLC and the Kogi State Council of Organised Labour. In his remarks, Comrade Amari praised Governor Ododo for his exceptional leadership, particularly noting the prompt payment of salaries, the implementation of the National Minimum Wage, pension harmonization, and the ongoing training and retraining of workers.

Governor Ododo, upon receiving the honor, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Almighty God and his dedicated team. He also thanked the Organized Labour for this recognition, emphasizing that it would further inspire him to continue working towards the development of the state and improving the lives of its people.

This award is a testament to the Governor’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Kogi’s workforce and his proactive efforts in ensuring the economic well-being of workers. The Governor’s leadership has been instrumental in raising the standard of living for workers in the state, particularly through the successful implementation of the N72,500 minimum wage.

The recognition highlights Governor Ododo’s strong, positive relationship with the state’s workforce and his genuine commitment to advancing their welfare. It also underscores his leadership in fostering an environment where workers’ rights and needs are prioritized.
