Governor Sanwo-Olu Pays Tribute to Pope Francis’ Extraordinary Life of Service
On behalf of the government and people of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the global Catholic community, the Vatican, and all those profoundly touched by the extraordinary life of service of His Holiness Pope Francis.
Governor Sanwo-Olu lauded Pope Francis for being a beacon of humility, compassion, and moral courage. He noted that Pope Francis consistently championed the causes of the poor, advocated for peace, and led with a heart rooted in faith, tolerance, and love for humanity. His leadership, marked by a deep sense of justice and mercy, has left an indelible mark on the world.
In his statement, Governor Sanwo-Olu reflected on the tremendous legacy Pope Francis leaves behind, one that is built on hope, mercy, and an unwavering commitment to upholding the dignity of every human being. “As we mourn this great loss, we take comfort in the example he set for all of us, reminding us of the power of compassion and selfless service to others,” he said.
