Lagos State Enhances Judicial Infrastructure with Inauguration of 34 Residential Units for Magistrates and Legal Officers

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration continues to demonstrate unwavering commitment to enhancing the judiciary in Lagos State with the inauguration of 34 residential units designed to improve the welfare of magistrates and senior legal officers. Located in Ketu and Ikorodu, these three-bedroom flats are part of an ongoing effort to strengthen judicial infrastructure and boost the productivity of legal practitioners.
The 34 units, with 24 allocated to magistrates and 10 designated for senior officers within the Ministry of Justice, were officially handed over to the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba. The initiative underscores the governor’s vision of improving justice delivery through better infrastructure and fostering a supportive environment for legal officers.
In his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted that this project is another testament to the administration’s focus on judicial reform and institutional excellence. “This is yet another milestone in our dedication to enhancing the judicial system and serving the people of Lagos,” he affirmed. He further noted that the inauguration of the newly constructed Deputy Sheriff Warehouse would help streamline judicial processes by securely storing confiscated goods and evidence, ensuring easy access and confidentiality.
Praising the contractor for the high-quality construction, Sanwo-Olu mentioned that the recent rainfall had proven the structure’s integrity, adding that such quality work helps build confidence in public infrastructure. He also stressed the economic benefits of the project, emphasizing the creation of local employment opportunities and stimulation of the Ikorodu economy.
The governor appealed to landlords in the area to show consideration in rent pricing, ensuring that the development did not lead to undue exploitation. He concluded by reiterating the importance of a transparent and credible justice system, vital for economic growth and protection of citizens’ rights, and emphasized the state’s continued collaboration with the judiciary to promote a fair and accessible legal system. ________________________________________
