In a significant step toward enhancing access to clean water in rural communities, the Kogi State Government has procured and inaugurated a state-of-the-art borehole drilling rig, reinforcing Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s unwavering commitment to social welfare and rural development.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Lokoja, the Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Comfort Nwuchola Egwaba, commended Governor Ododo for prioritizing the health and well-being of the people. She described the acquisition as a clear demonstration of the administration’s dedication to providing essential social amenities to underserved areas.

“The Governor’s foresight in tackling water scarcity is highly commendable. This drilling rig will significantly impact the lives of many rural dwellers, and I urge RUWASA and the Ministry to make the most of this valuable resource,” the Deputy Speaker stated.

Echoing similar sentiments, the State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engineer Farouk Yahaya, described the development as a turning point in the fight against water scarcity. He emphasized that the water levels in several parts of the state necessitated such proactive measures.

“The Governor is genuinely committed to empowering the Ministry of Water Resources and its key agencies like RUWASA and the Kogi State Water Board. This borehole drilling machine is not just a tool—it represents a promise of a better life. With a bit of patience and support, we will put an end to water scarcity in Kogi,” he assured.

The initiative falls in line with Governor Ododo’s broader agenda of sustainable development and infrastructure enhancement across Kogi State. His administration continues to mirror the people-focused legacy of his predecessor, with strategic interventions in critical sectors such as water, health, and agriculture.

Also present at the event was the State Commissioner of Agriculture, Mr. Timothy Ojama, who lauded the inter-ministerial collaboration aimed at improving the quality of life for Kogites, especially in the rural hinterlands.

This landmark initiative signals yet another stride in Governor Ododo’s mission to ensure no community is left behind in the state’s developmental journey.
