Governor Oyebanji Leads Governance Reset: Far-Reaching Exco Decisions Transform Ekiti State

Governor Biodun Oyebanji chaired a strategic virtual State Executive Council meeting on May 13, 2025, delivering a series of bold approvals that underscore his administration’s developmental agenda. Among the highlights was a bill establishing the Ekiti State Capital Territory Development Authority, aimed at creating a modern, business-friendly capital through master planning, smart city innovations, and infrastructure upgrades.
Another major approval was the upgrade of the Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology to a full-fledged Polytechnic, expanding the institution’s mandate to deliver skills-based, industry-aligned education that boosts employability and innovation.
Governor Oyebanji also approved the construction of six security houses at farm settlements in a bid to protect farmers and promote agricultural prosperity. This was complemented by the procurement of ₦200 million worth of fertilizers and agrochemicals for distribution at 50% subsidy to support 2025 farming activities.
Electricity infrastructure also received a boost with approvals for transformer installations, substation repairs, and electricity expansion projects across multiple LGAs. These include:
- ₦88.4 million for a 500KVA transformer at Ijero-Ekiti
- ₦157.7 million for overhauling electrical systems in Oye-Ekiti
- ₦79.8 million for installing transformers donated by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele
Infrastructure upgrades were also approved, including:
- ₦110 million for a 150,000-litre water tank at the Agro-Allied Airport
- ₦220 million for fencing and security structures at Government College, Efon Alaaye
- ₦295 million for road rehabilitation linking major routes in Ado-Ekiti
- ₦275 million for upgrading facilities at Oja-Oba and Agric-Olope Markets
- ₦172 million for fabrication of 20 Dino bins under the LAWMA-EKWMA collaboration
- ₦518 million for construction of internal roads at the FMS in Iyemero
- ₦5.38 billion for extension of Emure–Eporo Road rehabilitation to Ondo boundary
Additionally, the contract for internal roadworks at BOUESTI, Ikere-Ekiti, was terminated following contractor default, demonstrating the Governor’s zero tolerance for delays and poor performance.
These sweeping approvals reinforce the Oyebanji administration’s commitment to smart governance, infrastructure renewal, inclusive development, and service delivery across every sector of Ekiti State.
