In a landmark effort to deliver universal health coverage, the Government of Imo State under Governor Hope Uzodimma has redefined public healthcare delivery through a statewide transformation strategy that prioritizes accessibility, quality, and sustainability.

The administration has successfully built new General Hospitals across several Local Government Areas while revitalizing the specialist and teaching hospitals. These developments bridge the gap between primary and tertiary care, ensuring that Imolites, regardless of location or income, can access dependable medical services.

Governor Uzodimma’s commitment also includes fully equipped prototype Primary Healthcare Centres across all 305 INEC wards, recruitment and upskilling of health professionals with competitive salary structures, and the launch of ImoCare—a health insurance scheme driving widespread enrollment across 654 communities.

With modernized drug supply systems, strategic deployment of health workers, and increased investment in medical infrastructure, Imo State now stands as a beacon of equitable healthcare reform in Nigeria. As Governor Uzodimma asserts: “A great state is one where healthcare access is a right, not a privilege.”
