Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State is positioning the state as a leading hub for solid mineral development, job creation, and environmental sustainability. Through strategic reforms, Kaduna has curbed illegal mining, attracted foreign investment, and pioneered climate-smart initiatives—turning challenges into opportunity.

Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Alhaji Abubakar Buba, revealed that Kaduna generated ₦30 million in mining revenue in two quarters and commissioned Nigeria’s first lithium processing plant at Kangimi. The plant’s capacity exceeds 30,000 tonnes of lithium per day—marking Kaduna’s entry into global energy value chains.

Through partnerships like Core International and the establishment of 18 additional mineral titles, the Kaduna Mining Development Company is spearheading innovation. Cooperative structures have been created to transition illegal miners into productive participants in formal mining ventures.

Kaduna also leads in environmental governance, becoming the first sub-national to implement a climate change policy and position paper. The state’s ACReSAL project has empowered 500 women and youths in briquette production as a green alternative to firewood, alongside distribution of clean cooking stoves to 400 beneficiaries. Governor Sani’s environmental vision, clean energy push, and inclusion in HYPPADEC highlight Kaduna’s rise as a clean, green, and economically resilient state.
