Governor Otu’s Communication Reforms Spotlighted as Commissioner Champions Integrity at UNICROSS Conference
Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s transformative efforts in the communication sector came into sharp focus as Cross River’s Information Commissioner, Dr. Erasmus Ekpang, delivered a stirring keynote at the maiden International Conference of the Mass Communication Department, University of Cross River State (UNICROSS). The conference themed “The Science of Communication and the Communication of Science” gathered thought leaders from across the country.
Dr. Ekpang emphasized the growing need for ethical, truth-based communication in today’s digital world. “We live in an era where a single tweet can shape or destroy reputations. Communication must now be both a science and a moral compass,” he said. The Commissioner praised Governor Otu for his sweeping reforms in digital communication, including the full digitization of the CRBC, revival of the Government Printing Press, and modernization of state-run news platforms. He described these interventions as visionary and pivotal to restoring public trust.
