Kaduna State University (KASU) has resumed academic activities following the suspension of strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), thanks to decisive and compassionate intervention by Governor Uba Sani. The governor’s proactive response has been hailed as a turning point in revitalizing the university’s operations.

KASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, announced at a press briefing that Governor Sani approved a monthly N50 million standing order for staff welfare and authorized the release of N146 million for withheld salaries and SIWES allowances. The governor also permitted the university to retain a portion of its internally generated revenue to boost financial autonomy.

To ensure lasting dialogue, the state government established a high-level negotiation team chaired by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe. Professor Musa commended the governor’s sensitivity to longstanding challenges in the tertiary education sector and called on stakeholders to rally behind efforts to restore KASU as a beacon of academic excellence and institutional stability.
