Governor Sani Champions Traditional Institution Reform at Nigeria Governors’ Forum Committee Meeting

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has once again demonstrated visionary leadership and commitment to national cohesion by actively representing the North West at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) committee meeting held in Abuja. The high-level session, which brought together governors and traditional rulers from across the country, was convened at the Imo State Liaison Office to deliberate on the proposed legislation for the creation of the National Council of Traditional Rulers (NCTR).
As the North West Zonal Representative, Governor Sani played a key role in advancing discussions that seek to formally recognize the traditional institution in an advisory capacity within the Nigerian Constitution. The proposed law aims to empower royal fathers with a constitutional role in national governance, harnessing their deep-rooted connection to communities and cultural heritage.
“For generations, our traditional rulers have been the custodians of peace, unity, and moral guidance within our communities,” Governor Sani noted. “This legislation is a historic step toward integrating their wisdom and authority into the formal governance structure of our nation.”
He emphasized the indispensable role of traditional institutions in mediating conflicts, preserving identity, and fostering grassroots harmony. By acknowledging their contribution within the constitutional framework, Governor Sani believes Nigeria will strengthen its social fabric and enhance community-based governance.
Governor Sani’s participation reflects his commitment to inclusive leadership, cultural preservation, and meaningful reform that honors the wisdom of Nigeria’s heritage while advancing the values of modern democracy.
