Sokoto State Reaffirms Commitment to Coordinated Security, Cautions Politicians Against Unilateral Actions

In a proactive move to strengthen law and order, the Sokoto State Government has issued a firm caution to political stakeholders, warning against unauthorized security arrangements that bypass the government’s established protocols.
The Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Ahmed Aliyu, Colonel Ahmed Usman (rtd), conveyed the message in a statement released on Thursday. The advisory followed a recent incident involving a senator who allegedly attempted to mobilize members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) from Borno State without the required approvals.
While acknowledging the importance of collective efforts in addressing security challenges, Colonel Usman stressed that any form of unilateral or politicized security intervention is not only illegal but also dangerous to the stability and peace of the state.
“Security is far too sensitive to be politicised or used for cheap political advantage,” he said. “No individual has the legal authority to recruit or deploy armed groups or vigilantes under any guise without the express approval of the state government. Such actions undermine the authority of the state and threaten public safety.”
He further reiterated the government’s openness to genuine initiatives aimed at supporting peace and security, provided they conform to institutional frameworks and respect due process.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, the statement called for unity, cooperation, and restraint among all stakeholders. Colonel Usman also issued a clear warning that any future breach of the state’s security protocols would attract serious legal consequences.
The message underscores Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s dedication to maintaining a secure and lawful environment for all citizens and reinforces Sokoto State’s stance on preserving institutional authority and governance integrity.
