The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a strategic step toward strengthening its internal structures by constituting a seven-member committee to oversee the expansion of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

The committee is chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni (CON), the former Chairman of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), reflecting the party’s confidence in his leadership and reformist credentials.

Speaking after the NEC meeting held at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, the party’s spokesperson, Felix Morka, announced the development, stating that the committee will establish criteria for onboarding new NEC members to accommodate more stakeholders and foster inclusivity.

“Governor Buni’s appointment underscores the party’s recognition of his pivotal role in stabilizing the APC during critical moments, including overseeing a smooth leadership transition and a successful national convention,” Morka noted.

The meeting also saw the NEC pass a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, commending their efforts in fostering party unity and national progress.

Morka emphasized the recognition of Dr. Ganduje’s achievements in unifying the party and creating avenues for collaboration among members, adding that the NEC approved the party’s audited financial statements and budget, reinforcing the APC’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

The high-profile gathering, the first NEC meeting under President Tinubu’s leadership, was attended by:

• Vice President Kashim Shettima

• Senate President Godswill Akpabio

• Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen

• APC Governors and key stakeholders

With Governor Buni at the helm of this committee, the APC is signaling its commitment to inclusiveness, party expansion, and internal unity, ensuring it remains a formidable political force ahead of future elections and governance challenges.
