Benue Government Empowers SMEs with Intensive Digital Training

The Benue State Government, under the leadership of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, is driving digital transformation by equipping Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with essential digital skills through an intensive training program.
The initiative, led by the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) in collaboration with the Bureau of Entrepreneurship & Wealth Creation (BEWC), is designed to empower SMEs with the knowledge needed to compete in the digital economy. The one-week training, launched at the BEWC headquarters in Makurdi, covers key areas such as digital branding, e-commerce, cybersecurity, social media management, and data analysis.
At the flag-off ceremony, Commissioner for Communications and Digital Economy, Hon. Amande Kwaghgba, commended Governor Alia for his unwavering commitment to making Benue an ICT hub. He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to scale their businesses. BDIC’s Managing Director, Mr. Terwase Gbande, represented by Mr. Solomon Kershima Yaghteghtegh, emphasized the importance of bridging the digital divide as a strategy for driving economic growth.
Director-General of BEWC, Ms. Benita Shuluwa, represented by DAHR Mr. Frank Ukonu, highlighted the necessity of digital literacy for business success in today’s competitive world. The program is expected to benefit over 400 SMEs, enhancing their capacity to leverage technology for business expansion.
With Governor Alia’s administration prioritizing digital inclusion and entrepreneurship, Benue State is positioning itself as a leader in ICT-driven economic development.
