Benue Partners with IOM to Provide Lifeline for IDPs

The Benue State Government has strengthened its partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to address the needs of over 500,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs). This collaboration focuses on delivering urgent humanitarian aid and long-term resilience-building initiatives in affected areas like Agatu, Kwande, Gwer West, and Logo.
Sir James Iorpuu of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) emphasized the government’s commitment to swift action, while BICD’s Leo-Angelo Viashima called for increased international funding to enhance efforts.
IOM Chief of Mission, Ms. Paola Pace, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to partnering with the state government to address displacement drivers and deliver life-changing support. Previous initiatives like the Rapid Response Fund project have laid a strong foundation for this renewed collaboration, further demonstrating Benue’s proactive leadership under Governor Hyacinth Alia.
