The Benue State Government, in collaboration with the Commodities Development Initiative (CDI) and the Nigeria Feed and Fodder Multi-Stakeholders Platform (NFFMSP), has secured funding for an extensive feed and fodder production initiative. This project, which begins with 1,000 hectares and aims to expand to 6,000 hectares in three years, is projected to generate $70 million in revenue.

Speaking at the Agriculture Summit Africa, CDI Managing Director Roland Oroh highlighted the state’s transition from subsistence to commercial-scale operations, attracting both domestic and international investors.

Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration has been praised for creating an enabling environment for innovative agriculture, with South African investors committing an additional $100 million to the project. This landmark initiative not only strengthens Benue’s economy but also positions Nigeria as a key player in the global feed and fodder market.
