The First Lady of Imo State, Chioma Uzodimma, has opened up about her personal life, values, and commitment to public service, highlighting how simple acts like cooking for her husband, Governor Hope Uzodimma, strengthen their bond and deepen their connection.

In an engaging conversation, she shared insights into her early life, education, legal career, and her role as First Lady, emphasizing the importance of family, compassion, and service to humanity.

A Strong Foundation in Integrity and Service

Born in Aba into the Ikeaka family of Dikenafai, Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State, Chioma Uzodimma grew up in a household that prioritized education, integrity, and social responsibility. Her parents instilled in her a strong sense of purpose, emphasizing the need to use privilege to uplift others.

“My parents always encouraged me to be diligent and committed to making a difference. My father saw education as a tool for empowerment, while my mother demonstrated kindness and compassion in everyday life,” she recalled.

This upbringing shaped her lifelong commitment to service, leading to the establishment of the GoodHope Flourish Foundation (GHFF), a non-profit organization dedicated to women’s empowerment, healthcare access, and poverty alleviation.

Balancing Public Service and Family Life

Despite the demands of public office, Chioma Uzodimma prioritizes family, faith, and well-being. She describes cooking for her husband as more than just a household activity, but a way to nurture their relationship and maintain a sense of normalcy amid their busy lives.

“Yes, I still cook for my husband, and I always will,” she said. “It’s not just about the food; it’s about the intimacy, care, and connection that come with it.”

She attributes communication, mutual respect, and shared values as the key to a happy marriage, while also emphasizing the importance of balance in work and family life.

Impacting Lives Through Advocacy and Leadership

As First Lady, Chioma Uzodimma has leveraged her legal background to champion women’s rights, education, and healthcare initiatives. Through GHFF, she has implemented skills acquisition programs, financial grants, and maternal healthcare support, impacting over 5,000 individuals and launching more than 500 community-driven initiatives.

“My mission is to empower women and children with opportunities that allow them to thrive,” she said. “Economic empowerment and healthcare access are particularly important to me because they create long-term, transformative change.”

She also serves as Secretary of the Renewed Hope Initiative, working alongside Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to advance education, health, and economic empowerment at the national level.

A Call for Unity and Development in Imo State

Addressing the current economic challenges, she urged women and young girls to remain resilient, hardworking, and prayerful, emphasizing that success requires dedication and faith in God’s plan.

To the people of Imo State, she reaffirmed Governor Hope Uzodimma’s commitment to progress, peace, and prosperity, calling for unity and collective efforts toward development.

“The governor is fully committed to driving remarkable development across the state. Together, we can make Imo a beacon of opportunity and progress. Let us remain united and focused on building a better future for all.”
