Court of Appeal Affirms Governor Nwifuru’s Election in Ebonyi State
In a landmark judgment, the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, upheld the victory of Governor Francis Nwifuru in the March 18 governorship election in Ebonyi State.
Presided over by Justice Jummai Sankey, a three-member panel unanimously dismissed the appeal brought by Chukwuma Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The panel resolved all issues raised by the appellant against the election, affirming its lack of merit.
Justice Sankey emphasized the lack of legal standing for the PDP and its candidate to intervene in the internal affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding candidate nominations. This decision reaffirms Governor Nwifuru’s mandate and solidifies the legitimacy of his election win.
