The Court of Appeal upheld the election victory of Governor Uba Sani in Kaduna State, dismissing an appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mohammed Ashiru.

In a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of Justices, the court endorsed the verdict of the Kaduna State Election Petition Tribunal, affirming Governor Sani’s election as valid.

Justice Obietonbara Daniel-Kalio, delivering the lead judgment, upheld the tribunal’s ruling, declaring the petition by the PDP and its candidate as inadmissible due to procedural breaches.

The court highlighted the premature application filed by the appellants, which contravened electoral laws and rendered their statements on oath invalid. It emphasized the necessity of due process in initiating legal proceedings and deemed the witnesses’ statements incompetent due to their belated filing.

The ruling solidifies Governor Sani’s mandate, ensuring legal affirmation of his victory in the governorship election held on March 18 in Kaduna State.
