Muslim leaders in Edo State have reaffirmed their support for Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, calling for prayers and divine guidance for the government at the annual Ramadan lecture held at Jattu Central Mosque in Uzairue Kingdom.
The event, organized by the Uzairue Council of Imaams and Ulamaas, witnessed strong representation from the state government, including Mallam Musah Muhammad Uduimoh, Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, and Hon. Gani Akohia, Edo State House of Assembly member for Constituency 11.
Addressing the congregation, Chairman Uduimoh and Hon. Akohia emphasized Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to the welfare of the Muslim community, noting the importance of prayers for the administration’s continued success.
“Governor Okpebholo remains deeply invested in the well-being of the Muslim population of Edo State. We seek your prayers for his leadership and for the Muslim officials holding key positions in government, including Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, and Chief of Staff, Hon. Ganiyu Audu,” Chairman Uduimoh stated.
He also commended the administration’s support for religious harmony and development, noting that the extension of the Hajj payment deadline by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) was secured through the board’s persistent engagement.
“We appealed for more time, and thankfully, NAHCON has extended the payment deadline to the middle of Ramadan. We encourage prospective pilgrims and sponsors to take advantage of this opportunity,” Uduimoh announced.
Hon. Akohia assured the Muslim community that Governor Okpebholo is committed to increasing Muslim representation in government and addressing key developmental needs, including the improvement of Jattu Market.
“The development of Jattu Market is a priority for me as your representative. We have assessed the market, and, by God’s grace, we will take the necessary steps to support our traders,” he pledged.
The Ramadan lecture attracted notable dignitaries, including Honourable Lukman Muhammad (member of the Governing Council, AAU), Chief Alhaji K.O. Shaibu, Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Shuaib (Chief Imam of Uzairue Kingdom), Alhaji Abudu Momodu (Daudu 1 of Uzairue Kingdom), and representatives of the United Muslim Youths Association of Nigeria (UMYAN).
The event underscored the strong bond between the Muslim community and the Edo State government, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusivity, religious harmony, and community development.
