Edo State Partners with Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange for Agricultural Growth

The Edo State Government, through its Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, is set to collaborate with the Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange to advance food security and implement innovative feed, fodder, and livestock projects.
Dr. Peter Osagie, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, announced the government’s readiness to allocate 1,000 hectares of land for the project, which aims to generate foreign exchange, create employment, and build capacity within the state. “This initiative aligns with our vision to maximize Edo’s vast arable land for economic and agricultural development,” Dr. Osagie stated.
The Head of Operations for the Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange, Nkechi Obi, emphasized the transformative potential of the project. “Edo State’s inclusion in this initiative ensures sustainable livestock production and economic growth,” she said.
With a focus on cultivating feed and fodder crops, the collaboration promises to position Edo State as a leader in agricultural innovation. This partnership underscores Governor Okpebholo’s forward-thinking approach to leveraging resources for the benefit of the people and driving sustainable development.
