Edo State to Host Sports Festival: Governor Okpebholo Champions Sporting Excellence

Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the hosting of the Edo State Sports Festival, a key initiative to bolster the state’s sporting prowess and prepare its athletes for the National Sports Festival in Ogun State in May 2025.
Desmond Enabulele Amadin, Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, highlighted the festival’s role in advancing sports development and fostering discipline and collaboration among athletes and staff. “This year is a festival year, and we are fully committed to ensuring our athletes excel at all levels,” he noted.
The Sports Commission is focused on maintaining facilities, supporting athlete welfare, and conducting zonal eliminations leading to the national event. Enabulele assured staff and athletes of the Commission’s readiness to address challenges and reward hard work.
The Director of Sports Development, Efe Amenze, commended the leadership of the Sports Commission and expressed confidence in their plans to elevate Edo’s status as a hub for sports excellence. Governor Okpebholo’s support for the festival reaffirms his commitment to nurturing talent, promoting unity, and positioning Edo as a leading state in Nigerian sports.
