In a powerful show of appreciation and trust, Ekiti State pensioners have officially endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term in office, citing his commitment to their welfare as a cornerstone of his administration’s success.

At a gathering held at the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Ado-Ekiti, the pensioners unanimously declared their support for the Governor’s re-election bid, promising to repay his good gestures with their votes in the 2026 governorship election.

The pensioners praised the Governor for placing top priority on their wellbeing, which they said has helped reduce mortality and brought renewed hope to their ranks. “Governor Oyebanji has restored our dignity. He doesn’t see us as forgotten citizens, but as respected elders,” said one of the union leaders.

Responding through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji expressed profound gratitude for the endorsement. “I feel humbled, blessed, and highly encouraged by this show of support. This endorsement means so much, especially coming from our highly respected senior citizens whose primary concern is the progress of Ekiti State.”

The Governor reiterated his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of workers and pensioners, affirming that the journey of shared prosperity will continue.

He also extended appreciation to other organizations that had earlier pledged support for his re-election, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).
