Farmer Governor Bago Champions Grassroots Leadership and Technological Advancement in Niger State

In a bold demonstration of grassroots political empowerment and forward-thinking governance, the Farmer Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has pledged unwavering support to the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for Chanchaga Local Government Area, Dr. Mustapha Jibrin, ahead of the forthcoming Council elections.
Receiving Dr. Jibrin and his team on a courtesy visit at the liaison office in Abuja, Governor Bago commended the candidate’s resilience, perseverance, and dedication, which earned him the party’s ticket. Acknowledging the complexities and unique challenges of Chanchaga—ranging from security issues to social and sanitation concerns—the Governor expressed confidence in Dr. Jibrin’s capacity to provide innovative solutions.
“Chanchaga is a challenging terrain, but I believe you are more than capable. Begin thinking out of the box, so that when elected, you can hit the ground running,” the Governor charged. He further emphasized the importance of continuity, urging the candidate to uphold and complement the transformative efforts of the state government.
Dr. Mustapha Jibrin, in turn, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s trust and stewardship. He affirmed his commitment to fostering peace and unity across party lines and working collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve the socio-economic upliftment of the local government area. Highlighting his immediate post-selection consultations with stakeholders, Dr. Jibrin proudly noted that no petitions had been filed against him, an indication of widespread acceptance.
Hadi Garkuwa Saidu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties and a member of the visiting delegation, also applauded Governor Bago’s developmental strides and reiterated the team’s continued support for the administration.
In a parallel stride to position Niger State at the forefront of innovation, Governor Bago also met with a high-level delegation from the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASDRA) to explore a strategic partnership that leverages space technology for development.
During the engagement at the State liaison office, Governor Bago directed the Commissioner for Communication, Technology and Digital Economy, Suleiman Isah, to immediately liaise with NASDRA and facilitate the creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to expedite collaboration. The SPV will serve as a streamlined mechanism to eliminate bureaucratic delays and clearly define partnership terms.
“There’s no better time to partner with NASDRA than now. This collaboration will boost key sectors like agriculture, education, and security,” Governor Bago stated, expressing excitement over a compelling presentation delivered by the agency.
Dr. Matthew Olumide Adepoju, NASDRA’s Director-General, lauded the Governor’s tech-savvy leadership and described him as a “right peg in the right hole.” He emphasized that NASDRA’s cutting-edge technology would amplify the government’s developmental efforts and broaden the state’s global visibility.
As Niger State moves toward deeper technological integration and stronger grassroots governance, these dual initiatives reflect Governor Bago’s commitment to a progressive, people-centered administration that bridges traditional leadership with modern innovation.
