FG Hails Governor AbdulRazaq’s Transparency, Leadership in UBEC Project Execution

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been lauded by the Federal Government for setting a high standard in the execution of Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC) projects, showcasing his administration’s transparency, commitment, and accountability in delivering quality educational infrastructure to Kwara communities.
The commendation came from the North Central Zonal Director for UBEC, Elder Edward Abalaka, during the bid opening ceremony for the 2024 1st and 2nd quarters of FGN/UBEC/SUBEB intervention projects held in Ilorin. He described Kwara as a “pacesetter” in compliance with UBEC contract execution guidelines.
Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration opened the bids for 258 contractors to compete transparently for projects covering classroom construction, remodeling, VIP toilets, solar-powered boreholes, furniture fabrication, and procurement of school equipment, ensuring a fair and competitive process.
SUBEB Chairman, Prof. Sheu Raheem Adaramaja, emphasized that the Governor has already paid the counterpart fund for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2024, positioning the state for further investments in education infrastructure. He praised the Governor’s leadership for prioritizing learning environments and supporting teachers and students.
Projects advertised for tender include 70 blocks of classrooms, 28 VIP toilet facilities, 4652 units of teacher and pupil furniture, 11 motorized solar boreholes, and the purchase of an 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus for the Quality Assurance Directorate. The initiative also includes ECCDE furniture and Safe School Initiatives across multiple LGAs.
Speaking on behalf of the contractors, Alhaji Maroof Ahmed praised the bidding process as open and fair, promising to deliver projects that meet specifications. The event was graced by key stakeholders including Kwara State House of Assembly member Hon. Yunusa Oniboki, UBEC representatives, and other government officials.
