First Lady of Gombe State, Hajiya Dr. Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya Commissions Community Development Projects Under Jewel Care Initiative

The First Lady of Gombe State, Hajiya Dr. Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, has commissioned health clinics, classroom blocks with VIP toilets, and other essential infrastructure in Kunji Ward, Chilo Umaru, and Bomala communities within Yamaltu Deba and Akko Local Government Areas.
The projects were executed under her pet initiative, the Jewel Care Foundation, in collaboration with the Gombe State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA). The initiative aims to ease the difficulties faced by communities in accessing quality healthcare and education, reflecting the administration’s commitment to improving the well-being of the people.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya emphasized that the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya remains dedicated to prioritizing healthcare and social welfare. She called on the people to continue supporting the government’s developmental agenda to enjoy more democratic dividends.
She also commended the women’s groups in the benefiting communities for their commitment and financial contributions in providing counterpart funding for the projects. She reiterated her foundation’s resolve to continuously support women and children, ensuring that they have better opportunities for health and education.
In his welcome address, Haruna A. Imam, General Manager of CSDA and NG-Cares State Coordinator, explained that the projects were executed through a funding arrangement where the communities contributed 5% of the total cost while the state government provided the remaining 95%. He urged the beneficiaries to take full ownership of the projects and protect them for long-term benefits.
Traditional leaders, including the Emir of Yamaltu Deba, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya and his wife, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, for their remarkable strides in expanding healthcare access to underserved communities. They also urged the residents to safeguard and maintain the facilities for sustainable use.
Leaders of the women’s groups—Bomala Women Group (Akko), Kunji Women Group, and Chilo Umaru Women Group—expressed profound appreciation for the initiative, noting that it would ease the burden of accessing education and healthcare for children and families in the communities.
During the event, Hajiya Dr. Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya was honored with traditional titles of ‘Tauraruwar Kunji’ and ‘Jarumar Chilo’ in recognition of her contributions to community development. She also donated financial support to each benefiting community to further sustain the projects.
The commissioned projects include:

• Borehole water supply systems
• Fully equipped healthcare facilities
The initiative highlights the Gombe State government’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development, women empowerment, and improved healthcare access across local communities.
