Gombe Sets National Benchmark for Disability-Inclusive Governance

The Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities (GSCPWD) has earned national commendation for its groundbreaking strides in inclusive governance. During a visit by the National Economic Council (NEC) State Monitoring Committee, led by Bala Musa Giade, the Commission showcased its pioneering achievements in integrating Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) into policy, social welfare, and economic development programs.
Executive Chairman Ishiyaku Adamu presented a compelling report highlighting Gombe’s commitment, including the implementation of the Gombe State Disability Law and the historic inclusion of PWDs in the palliative and cash transfer programs. These initiatives, made possible through the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, ensure fairness, transparency, and dignity in social interventions—an example many other states can follow.
The NEC Committee hailed Gombe as a model of inclusive governance, applauding Governor Yahaya’s people-focused approach that leaves no one behind. The visit underscores the importance of federal-state collaboration in deepening disability inclusion, mainstreaming support into MSMEs, agriculture, and infrastructure, and ensuring all Nigerians benefit from ongoing national reforms.
