Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the timely completion of the vital Ughelli-Asaba Road dualisation project, a flagship infrastructure initiative that promises to enhance socio-economic connectivity across the state.
Speaking during an inspection of the Ubu Bridge segment under Sector C1, the governor expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and announced that the bridge would be completed by December 2024. He also revealed that the contract for Sector A was revoked in February 2025 due to poor performance and has since been reassigned to a more competent contractor.
To ensure smooth and uninterrupted funding, Governor Oborevwori disclosed that the project is financed through an Irrevocable Standing Payment Order (ISPO), which safeguards against financial bottlenecks.
The Ughelli-Asaba Road project, spanning approximately 143 kilometers, aligns with the governor’s MORE Agenda, which prioritizes improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment across Delta State.
