Governor AbdulRazaq Promotes Food Security with Stakeholder Engagement on Food Systems Transformation

The Kwara State Government has taken a significant step toward enhancing food security through a comprehensive stakeholder sensitisation workshop on Food Systems Transformation Pathways. Led by the Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Dr (Mrs) Mary Arinde, the workshop brought together principals, agriculture teachers, and ministry officials to design inclusive strategies for sustainable food systems.
Dr Arinde emphasized the importance of nutritious diets, local food production, and citizen empowerment—particularly for farmers and women—to improve health, livelihoods, and resilience. She commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON for enabling the rollout of school farming and home gardening initiatives that address food insecurity at grassroots levels.
Other key speakers, including Commissioner for Livestock Development, Mrs Oluwatoyosi Thomas, and the Commissioner for Health (represented by Dr Habeeb Lawal), echoed the government’s commitment to climate-smart agriculture, nutritional equity, and youth-focused value chain development. The workshop concluded with a call by State Director of Planning, Alhaji Kayode Alimi, for participants to cascade the training to local actors for lasting impact.
