Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and accessible healthcare system across Kwara State, ensuring that no community is left behind.

This assurance was given by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, during the first quarter Inter-Ministerial Media Briefing in Ilorin. She highlighted landmark achievements made possible under Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, including the recruitment of 105 healthcare professionals into the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH), and the approval of full CONMESS implementation for all medical doctors.

Dr. El-Imam detailed the administration’s strategic focus on capacity building, stating that 70 doctors and nurses were trained across secondary health facilities under the CEmONC (Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care) initiative, alongside 10 master trainers.

She further acknowledged Governor AbdulRazaq’s timely support for development partnerships, noting the state’s consistent fulfillment of counterpart funding obligations. These efforts have attracted key interventions in tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and neglected tropical diseases, among others.

Significant progress was also made under the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) project, including procurement and installation of medical equipment, distribution of 8,000 tons of folic acid, and training of school health officers on Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP).

The Commissioner applauded support from partners like the Daemian Foundation of Belgium and the successful launch of the EU-funded SARAH project, which has expanded access to reproductive and adolescent health services.

Additionally, the Ministry combated malnutrition through the procurement and distribution of 1,982 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), while integrating health and nutrition education by training SEMA officials and secondary school teachers.

The Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bola Olukoju, noted that the briefing reflects Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance, enabling citizens to appreciate the scale and impact of the government’s efforts.
