As the World Bank reports that 75.5% of rural Nigerians live below the poverty line, Kwara State stands out as a beacon of resilience and progress under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Long before this alarming statistic emerged, the Governor had initiated strategic investments in rural development, agriculture, education, and social inclusion.

Through landmark projects such as the Kwara Garment Factory, which now employs 245 workers and produces 6,000 garments daily, and empowerment schemes like KWASSIP, thousands of Kwarans have accessed skills and capital to lift themselves out of poverty. Major investments in agro-industrial processing zones, climate resilience (ACReSAL), livestock productivity (L-PRES), and youth innovation hubs are also transforming lives in rural communities.

The state’s visionary allocation of 26% of its budget to education, partnerships with private sector players like Zenith Bank, and robust gender-inclusive policies have created a template for nationwide development. Governor AbdulRazaq’s forward-looking governance is restoring dignity to rural life, positioning Kwara as a model of inclusive and sustainable development in Nigeria.
