Governor Abiodun Hosts National Security Conference, Reaffirms Commitment To Police Reforms

At the 5th Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) held in Abeokuta, President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to enhancing national security through modern policing strategies.
Speaking at the event, Governor Dapo Abiodun emphasized the importance of security in economic growth, stating that Ogun State has prioritized investments in advanced security technologies, including:
• Electric-powered motorcycles for rapid response patrols.
• High-tech surveillance drones with facial and license plate recognition capabilities.
• AI-driven crime mapping and data analytics to enhance intelligence gathering.
“Security is a shared responsibility. No matter how well-equipped our security agencies are, community cooperation remains vital. Ogun State remains steadfast in supporting law enforcement agencies with the latest technology and infrastructure to ensure a safe and prosperous state,” Governor Abiodun stated.
The federal government’s police reform initiatives, which include renovation of barracks, recruitment of more officers, and provision of upgraded combat gear, were also highlighted as part of broader efforts to strengthen national security.
The retreat served as a platform for policymakers, security experts, and law enforcement officers to discuss innovative solutions for tackling crime and ensuring effective policing across Nigeria.
